The Southside Culinary Arts Retail Entertainment and Service Fund offers $250 relief grants to Near Southside creatives, gig and service workers that are experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19 and the February 2021 winter storms in Texas. We’re good at coming together for a cause. But in times like these, we need to do more than unite with each other. We need to unite for each other.

Since launching in April 2020 the Southside C.A.R.E.S. fund has had a huge impact:

* $190,000+ raised
* 1,800+ individual donors
* 700+ grants to Near Southsiders in need

The fund was founded by a $15,000 matching funds lead gift from Marilyn and Marty Englander, owners of The Magnolia Wine Bar, and relies on community contributions to serve applicants. Since opening, the Southside C.A.R.E.S. has received broad support from the Near Southside community. The Englander's spirit of giving has been carried forward by additional matching-funds gifts from Amanda and Eric Behn of Vandervoorts Dairy, First Financial Bank, and the DuBose Family Foundation.On April 30th, 2020 Leon Bridges and special guest Abraham Alexander performed a FREE streaming concert to help rally support of the Southside C.A.R.E.S. Fund. Their performance and the generous partnership of The Magnolia Wine Bar, Schaefer Advertising Co. and Fort Worth Weekly Near Southside, Inc. raised over $60,000 during the concert. In September 2020 the Better Together Fund from the North Texas Community Foundation has pledged to match every dollar donated up to $12,500. In addition, we have received more than 1,800 individual donations of all sizes from those who wish to support members of our community facing financial hardship.
